Why would a well-known TV personality (a 20-year veteran of PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow”) who also is a prominent New York City art auctioneer (president of Swann Auction Galleries in New York City) return to Cedar Rapids for the second time in two years, this time to donate his professional services to lead BrewNost’s first-ever live auction?

This 90-second video by Nicholas “Nicho” Lowry explains why:

Nicho Lowry is Czech by background. During a recent vacation to Prague, he “took over” the NCSML’s Instagram account (@nationalczechslovakmuseum) for a week, which yielded several clever, entertaining posts. In 2016, he and his family loaned the NCSML several Czech travel posters from their personal collection for a popular exhibition here, and Nicho came to Cedar Rapids for its opening.

Bidders in the BrewNost live auction will be vying for seven special premium packages, including (for example) a luxury trip to Prague in the Czech Republic and dinner for 8 in the old bank vault at Popoli Ristorante and Sullivan’s Bar in Cedar Rapids, plus 8 tickets to Orchestra Iowa. Read about all the BrewNost live auction packages here.
