(Cedar Rapids, Iowa) – The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library will reopen in stages, beginning Monday, June 15.
The first week of the NCSML’s reopening will be for members only. In addition to free admission, all members will receive a 25 percent discount coupon for our award-winning Museum Store. Anyone who is not a member, but would like to become one to enjoy our members-only week may do so by phone or on our website.
NCSML staff will monitor operations carefully the week of June 15 and if all goes well, we will open to the public on Monday, June 22. We will have a ticketed and timed entrance and detailed foot trafficking pathways for each visitor. Capacity will be limited to 25% of normal operations; we will evaluate our operations weekly and look to increase our capacity as time goes on. Call ahead reservations are recommended, but are not required at this time.
All NCSML staff, volunteers, and visitors will be required to wear a mask while they are in the building. The NCSML will provide masks to anyone who does not have one. In addition, temperatures will be taken of all staff and volunteers every morning. All visitors will be asked a few questions related to travel and exposure to help contact tracing, should that ever be necessary. Plexiglass will be installed at the entrance desk and in the museum store. Chip card readers for credit cards will be used so that there will not be unnecessary credit card contact by the employees and/or volunteers. With cash transactions, the employees and/or volunteers will use gloves. Frequent cleaning will be done along with the availability of hand sanitizer stations throughout the building.
The NCSML will follow all county, state, and national public health recommendations and guidelines. Because of this, our building rental guidelines for meetings, weddings, and other events are temporarily limited in the number of people we can safely serve. Please contact Naomi Engelken, Director of Event Services, for more information at email@example.com.
