What’s the Point? A Street Art Workshop with Jan Kaláb

September 12 @ 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Jan Kaláb is a remarkable Czech artist based on the creative roots of graffiti and street art. He belongs to the founding generation of street artists in Prague. Gradually, he transferred this visual culture from the street to prestigious gallery spaces across the world. The street facades and experimental works, including for example 3-D graffiti objects, which he pioneered in the international context, were replaced by canvases of various shapes of his own production and abstract sculptures.

Join Jan, as he teaches his unique techniques and structures on our replica Berlin Wall. Through geometrical morphology, precise acrylic painting, or layered surfaces, he begins to analyze space within a classical image. The boundless commitment, the joy of playful discovery and the overcoming of his possibilities leads Jan Kaláb to innovating and removing genre boundaries.

Price covers all supplies for the workshop. If the cost of this workshop will prohibit you from participating please contact Sara Henderson at shenderson@ncsml.org for sliding scale price options.

Jan Kaláb’s visit is part of NCSML’s Revolution Starts in the Streets public art installation and programming.

Cost: $25 for adults. $10 for students of all ages (Recommended for ages 12 and over)
