Join us for an in-person concert with Slovakian Operatic Tenor, Jozef Ivaška Jr., as part of our Hody 2021 celebration.

Jozef graduated from the State Conservatory of Music (Voice) in Bratislava and completed his education as an opera singer in the Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica. Following his university he attended the Academy of Young Singers at the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Russia. His first major role was Vasek in Smetana’s Bartered Bride in the State Opera in Banska Bystrica.

Following his debut, he sang opera in different roles (e.g. Pedrillo in Abduction from Seraglio, Jan Janicky in Beggar Student, Freddy in My Fair Lady, Schoolmaster Cunning Little Vixen, Monostatos in Magic Flute, Don Basilio in Marriage of Figaro). Jozef Ivaska Jr. performed in a number of opera houses, such as Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg, Jugendstiltheater in Vienna, the Amato Opera in New York, and the State Opera in Banska Bystrica. He sang regular at the Isny Oper Festival in Isny, Germany.

He taught music at the Children’s Czech and Slovak School in Astoria, New York. Jozef (Dodo) is also well known from performing for our Czech and Slovak community all around the world with his father Jozef Senior.

Cost: Members Free; Non-members: $10
Tickets may be sold at the door, however RSVP is recommended as seating for this in-person event is limited to 80.
