Farewell to Old Mother Winter

Celebrate the triumph of Spring over Winter by helping us toss Morena into the nearby Cedar River! In Slavic tradition, Morena is an entity associated with death and winter and must be vanquished to make way for sunny skies and warmer weather.
Meet in the museum’s Rozek Grand Hall, and then parade from the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library to the Bridge of Lions in Czech Village. Help Kaitlin, our Family Programs Manager, send our cloth effigy of Morena into the river and symbolically banish winter for the year, and learn about Czech and Slovak spring traditions.
