Written by Cindy Terry in conjunction with Jan Stoffer and the educational committee from the NCSML (2005/2006)

**This lesson is designed to follow the lessons on immigration and timeline of Cedar Rapids History found in the 3rd grade Social Studies curriculum. Instructional Time: Varies according to extent of activities completed. A minimum of 4-5 days is recommended which includes the study trip to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library and a followup activity. This can easily be extended another 5-6 days with research activities and extension ideas. (There are 5 activities in the lesson. Activities 1-3 ideally should be completed before visiting the NCSML in order to give students background knowledge. Activity 4 is the study trip to the NCSML and Czech Village. Activity 5 includes follow-up activities and optional extension activities. These extensions can be completed before or after the visit to the museum.)
