Volunteer Opportunities at the NCSML

There are many interesting and varied volunteer opportunities at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. Volunteers are most often the first people our visitors meet or talk to on the telephone. They are a welcoming presence at the information station and in the exhibit galleries.

Morning and afternoon shifts are available Tuesday through Saturday, and an afternoon shift on Sunday. Shifts average three to four hours. Volunteer help is needed occasionally for an evening event or for expanded hours related to temporary exhibits.

We have volunteer opportunities in the following areas:

Visitor services

Museum Store

Library

Administrative office

Programs

Other supporting roles

Members of our volunteer group also have the opportunity to meet at potlucks and other get-together activities, in addition to our annual volunteer appreciation event held each November. A monthly newsletter, Docent Doings, also helps to keep everyone in touch.

We would be happy to match up your talents, skills, and abilities with our needs.

Anyone interested in joining this outstanding group of volunteers should contact
Patricia Hikiji, Volunteer Coordinator, at 319-362-8500 or phikiji@ncsml.org.
