The Hall-Perrine Foundation awards a $3 million grant to the NCSML's capital fund to rebuild following the 2008 flood. The grant is presented as a challenge requiring matching funds of $2 for every $1 from The Hall-Perrine Foundation, or $6,000,000 committed in pledges or cash, to match the $3,000,000 grant.

The grand opening of the Kosek Building, a new location for the NCSML, was held April 17 and 18, 2010.
The building houses a multimedia exhibition, “Rising Above: The Story of a People and the Flood,” administrative offices, an educational classroom and a newly-merchandised Museum Store.
