Move Completed! Now it Goes Up!

(Cedar Rapids, IA)  First day of summer also brought the final move of the original 480 feet for the flood damaged building of the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. Tuesday evening, June 21 around 7:30 p.m., the building rolled the final 70 feet to complete its journey to a new location. The next phase, which will take six to eight weeks to complete, involves removng the 40 dollies, inserting roller beams and elevating the building about 12 feet. Then the building will slide on top of the new foundation/parking garage.
