For more than 30 years, the NCSML has celebrated Sv. Mikuláš (St. Nicholas) Day on the first week-end of December. To add to this festive celebration, the Old Prague Christmas Market presented by the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library will be presented on Friday evening 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Old Prague Christmas Market Features
Friday, December 2
- Outdoor shopping inside the heated tent features European importers and Midwest Artisans. The tent is located in Czech Village at the corner of 16th Ave. SW and A Street SW.
- 6 p.m. Tree Lighting Ceremony with the Czech Heritage Singers and the Kennedy High School Chamber Choir.
- Seasonal treats and food.
- Free horse drawn wagon rides through Czech Village.
- Fire Juggler Dean Franzen will entertain.
- Holiday window displays
- Accordionist Ron Johnson performs inside the market tent
Saturday, December 3
- 9:30 a.m. until gone. NCSML Guild Cookie Walk at St. Wenceslaus gymnasium. Free trolley rides shuttle shoppers between Old Prague Christmas Market and the Cookie Walk.
- Outdoor Holiday Shopping Market inside the heated tent at Czech Village on the corner of A Street SW and 16th Ave SW. Papa Balloon and Accordionist Ron Johnson featured in the market tent.
- 9:30 a.m. - Noon Sv. Mikuláš (St. Nicholas), Andel (Angel), and a Čert (devil) appear at the Cookie Walk and stroll 16th Avenue.
- Free admission to the exhibition gallery all day thanks to a generous sponsorship from Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre.
- 10 a.m. Chorale Midwest caroling through Czech Village
- 11 a.m. Eden United Church of Christ caroling through Czech Village
- 2:30- 4 p.m. Children may visit Sv. Mikuláš (St. Nicholas), the Andel (Angel) and the Čert (Devil).
- Free horse drawn wagon rides through Czech Village.
- Seasonal treats and hot food.
- 1 - 5 p.m. Free trolley rides between Old Prague Christmas Market and Very Cherry Christmas in New Bohemia.
- Holiday decor on the Avenue.

- Make and Take craft activities for children in the Kosek Classroom (lower level)
